Congrats to the 2018 HCU Scholarhip Winners

Holyoke Credit Union (HCU) awarded three (3) scholarships at a recent ceremony for its 2018 Scholarship Program.

Dennis Moran, Thomas Paquin and Michael Ghazil, members of the HCU Board of Directors and the Scholarship Committee, presented awards to Madison Lockwood of Feeding Hills, Myriam Diaz of Holyoke and Olivia Acevedo of West Springfield.

Each recipient received $500 to put toward her college expenses.

Ms. Lockwood, daughter of James and Jamie Lockwood of Feeding Hills, is a senior at Agawam High School. She is planning to attend the University of Southern Maine in the fall, majoring in Health Sciences. Ms. Lockwood is the captain of both her varsity volleyball and basketball teams. She also acts as coach for Bitty Basketball and is a camp counselor for the Agawam Volleyball Camp. She is also a member of the honors program, Academic A at AHS.

Ms. Diaz, daughter of Magda Miranda of Holyoke, is a senior at Holyoke High School. She is planning to attend Holyoke Community College in the fall, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Diaz volunteers at the Holyoke Boys & Girls Club and is a teaching assistant and guidance helper at HHS.

Ms. Acevedo, daughter of Richard and Jeannette Acevedo, is a senior at West Springfield High School. She plans to attend Suffolk University in the fall, majoring in Communication & Journalism. Her extracurricular activities include varsity basketball and cross-country, acting as captain of both teams. She volunteers as a camp counselor as well as a soup kitchen, food pantry and a nursing home.
