DEPOSIT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

Introduction

We’re seeking an experienced full-time Deposit Operations Specialist to perform deposit operations and electronic payment and banking functions.  At HCU exceptional member service is our goal, therefore this is an excellent opportunity for the candidate who is energetic, confident, personable and goal-oriented. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Under general guidance and supervision of the Deposit Operations Manager, performs operational support functions to enhance efficient deposit account servicing and effective service to members.  Specifically responsible for issues regarding electronic funds transfers, ACH, online & mobile banking and checking services.  Shares responsibility for the processing of ACH and share draft exception items efficiently and accurately.  Must display a high level of flexibility and willingness to perform other similar tasks as necessary. 

Job Functions:

  1. Researches, analyzes, and processes daily ACH and/or share draft exception items as needed in accordance with HCU policies and procedures and the NACHA operating rules.  Inputs, reviews, and maintains records for ACH origination transactions. Verifies prenotes.  Submits Notification of Change (NOC) when needed. 
  2. Shares responsibility for the accuracy of ACH associated general ledger account entries, often using Microsoft Excel.  Resolves any discrepancies. 
  3. Processes Returned Deposited Items from Federal Reserve (FRB).
  4. Responds to inquiries from Credit Union personnel and members adhering to HCU standards of exceptional member service. Composes emails and letters using professional business writing formatting. 
  5. Ensures protection of confidential member information.
  6. Reviews and approves or rejects Mobile Check Deposits as needed.
  7. Assists with annual processing of abandoned property.
  8. Assists in responding to subpoenas and levy requests.
  9. In the event of a Credit Union closing, must have Internet and computer access to work remotely from home using a secure VPN.
  10. Assists in the management of HCU’s ODP Program.
  11. Assists in the management of credit union’s online banking and mobile app.
  12. Assists in the processing of wire transfers.
  13. Assists in the management of the credit union’s debit card program.
  14. Performs other job-related duties and projects as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • A minimum of two years of banking, credit union, or financial services operations experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Accounting related training is a plus.
  • PC literate in Windows, and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Mature and professional communication and customer service skills necessary.
  • Must be detail orientated and able to multi-task
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written and communication skills. Decision making and critical thinking skills. 
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Must be willing to work in the very diverse environment of Holyoke Credit Union.

Schedule

  • May include occasional late days and Saturday hours, and after hours for meetings and events.

Member Associate Position

Holyoke Credit Union seeks a Member Associate with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with retail and business members as well as support the achievement of sales growth in a team-focused environment. The Member Associate must also have strong interpersonal skills, accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail.

The Member Associate must possess the talents of both a Member Service Representative and a Teller.

At HCU all products and services are sold in a consultative manner. Communication and Member Service skills are a must as the employee in this position will be required to sell and cross-sell our full-range of financial products to members and prospective members.

Responsibilities include:

  • Consult and inform current and prospective members on the benefits of our wide range of products and services
  • Sell and refer all credit union products to support sales goals
  • Responsible for daily cash balancing with a minimum of errors and within time guidelines
  • Process member financial transactions
  • Provide courteous and professional member service as a representative of the credit union

Experience necessary:

  • Two to three years of Financial Service Sales experience/Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • This is a full-time position, which includes late afternoons, early evenings and weekends.
